<image:caption>Mr. Buttons is our English Angora bunny. His fiber is super soft and grows super fast. This little guy requires routine brushing and haircuts to keep his coat in good shape. We wanted to add a smaller furry friend to the farm that even the smallest of visitors could be comfortable with, and Mr. Buttons is the perfect fit. We often say he is the smallest on the farm but requires the most work! Not sure if that is actually true, but it sure does feel like it. A fun fact about Mr. Buttons: his favorite treat is dried pineapple!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Poppy is the other half of the Jazzy/Poppy duo we brought from Ohio in 2022. We chose Poppy because she has amazing white fiber that we have some fun ideas for. When she is dry and clean Poppy’s fiber is beautiful but when it’s damp she looks quite the mess, kind of mud colored. Poppy is the least outgoing in the herd and always looks like she has an attitude. She really has no use for humans except when her food comes and she only eats after you walk away but we love her regardless of what she thinks of us.</image:caption>

The girls were just 6 months old and pretty small so they made the 10 hour ride home in the backseat of our truck. Alpacas usually lay down while they travel so we just made them a comfy spot and all went well. Jazzy is a smaller girl with beautiful true black fiber and a little bit feisty but very lovable personality. This one is the instigator of shenanigans!</image:caption>

That cute little girl that we brought home that day is now the tallest girl in the herd with a great personality and a beautiful rose grey colored coat with striking white markings. Ella is usually one of the first girls to the gate to greet visitors or to say it’s time to eat. If there are shenanigans happening in the alpaca yard, it’s a safe bet Ella is involved.</image:caption>

Clemi is a terrific mom who gave us one more beautiful little male cria before being retired from breeding. Unfortunately, we don’t have a male herd here so we had to sell little Kazoo when he was weaned from momma. Clemi, being the oldest, knows her place in the herd and isn’t bossed around by anyone. She is calm and courteous with visitors and takes treats nicely.</image:caption>

Sweet Pea had a troubled start to life, requiring around the clock care for a few days but she came through it and has grown into an incredibly beautiful girl with wonderful fiber. As sweet as her name indicates, Sweet Pea loves children as long as they move slow. As a newborn, Sweet Pea lost the sight in one eye, for that reason she does not like to be restrained, so when she is look out because she is a constant spitting machine.</image:caption>

Olive was pregnant at the time and not long after her arrival she gave us our first cria to be born on the farm. Olive is a wonderful momma who is still best friends with her daughter, Sweet Pea. Olive is very curious and attentive, but a little shy to visitors. You will usually see Olive hanging back from the crowd but some lucky visitors have had her eat out of their hands. Olive is one of our top 5 fiber producers!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Meet Boomer - Boomer the Alpaca</image:title>
<image:caption>Boomer is the only male alpaca on the farm, born to Patience in May of 2020. Boomer had a complicated birth and as a result he has some physical challenges to overcome but he does a great job of that and is by far the most loved and recognized alpaca at Sweet Memories Farm. Normally, male and female alpacas do not live together in the same herd but because of Boomers challenges he was neutered young and has been allowed to stay in the girl herd with no problems. Boomer and his mom, Patience, are almost constant companions and if you pay attention to the herd you can see that all of his aunties look out for him also. Boomer loves little kids and is very curious with them, he loves getting hand fed and will stick around as long as he can get food but when he’s had enough just let him be or you might get to say you’ve been spit on by an alpaca.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Patience has been with us since the fall of 2015. Patience originally got her name because she was kind of a menace so you needed extra patience to put up with her antics. As Patience grew up she turned into the most “patient” alpaca on the farm, allowing most visitors to pet and love on her. It is not uncommon for Patience to “cush” (lay down) when visitors are in the pen with her, this is a sign of her comfortableness with everyone and she welcomes hugs, petting and even sitting or laying next to her to get the perfect photo. Patience is definitely one of the farm favorites in the alpaca yard and also the mom to one special little boy born here on the farm in May of 2020.</image:caption>

She is almost always the lookout for the herd, constantly scouring the perimeter of the fencing for any sign of danger or anything out of the ordinary. When she spots something she doesn’t like she alerts the rest of the herd by making the “alarm call” which sounds like a cross between a clucking and a screeching sound.</image:caption>

It has definitely been an educational journey since the day they arrived. This girl has a middle of the pack personality but her look is what makes her one of the most noticed in our herd of 11. Jessica has a mustache! Yep, it’s true, this girl has a very prominent mustache that sets her apart from the others and definitely makes her one of the farm favorites with visitors. Jessica is also very fond of staying outside in a snowstorm, her fiber has a unique texture that holds the snow in it and turns her into the abominable snow alpaca.</image:caption>

We struggled with the thought of having guardian dogs that live outside with the farm family full-time but knew we needed to do more to protect our beloved animals. These girls are such a blessing on our farm, and we can’t imagine life without them here to keep everyone safe. Olivia is the mother to Laney. We got them when Laney was just 8 weeks old, so we got to watch Olivia teach her daughter how to manage the farm and the threats that come our way. These girls are fun loving and social until there is a perceived threat, then they are all business until the job is done. I think it is safe to say there will always be a pair of guardian dogs at Sweet Memories Farm!</image:caption>

Unfortunately, Chaos got sick and passed away at a very young age. Coda was by himself for a short time until we could find him a new buddy. Jack loves when Jayden comes to visit because he knows he will be getting extra attention and treats. Forest is our only tri-colored goat, his colors and; his blue eyes make him extra flashy, and his personality matches that. He was dehorned as a baby but still grew softer little horns called scurs. Forest likes to try to get where he doesn’t belong and it sometimes gets him in trouble. We call him our little unicorn because he got his head stuck and broke off one of his little horns while trying to fit through a spot in the fence. <image:caption>Kiwi is one of 2 mini horses on the farm. Kiwi and her buddy, Otter came to us from Texas in 2019. This little girl has “been there, done that”. She is so calm around kids and strangers and just loves attention. Kiwi has done lots of therapy work and has spent time in schools, nursing homes, and has even rode on elevators. The little boy who owned her before us loved riding her and dressing her up in costumes. Our goal is to teach her to pull a cart and be in parades.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hartley and his brother Huxlee joined the Sweet Memories Farm family in 2020 as bottle babies. They came from an Ohio farm that was part of a “breed-up” program to bring the “cutest sheep in the world” (google that) to the United States. The Valais Blacknose is a beautiful and unique breed of sheep that until recently was not available in the U.S. Our boys are 2 nd generation Valais crosses, so they don’t carry all of the Valais characteristics, but they do show many of them. We feel very fortunate to have these comical boys on our farm and we love telling their story to visitors.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Meet Dottie - Dottie the Suffolk Sheep</image:title>
<image:caption>Miss Dottie is a Suffolk sheep. Dottie was the last sheep left on our friends farm when she asked us to bring her & Gladys the donkey to Sweet Memories for their retirement home. Dottie is older than the average life expectancy of a sheep so she needs a little extra care to keep her going but she loves being spoiled and is the first to let us know when it’s feeding time. She also refuses to live with the other 2 sheep so she lives with her buddy, Gladys and the other donkeys. Dottie has learned quickly that people bring treats so if you have treats, look out for Dottie!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Meet Frappe - Frappe the Donkey</image:title>
<image:caption>Frappe was our very first donkey way back in 2014. She was already 9yrs old then and we were told she was very pregnant. We waited with great anticipation for a baby that never came. It turned out that Frappe is just an overly plump girl that likes to eat. Of course, we quickly fell in love with her and her loving personality. Over the years Frappe has helped us welcome many new furry friends to the farm and is always eager to meet new pasture mates and new people friends, especially if they have treats for her. Frappe is an exceptional vocalizer and has even been known to help sing the National Anthem at the local rodeo.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Meet Cricket - Cricket the Micro-Mini Donkey</image:title>
<image:caption>Miss Cricket is a micro-mini donkey which makes her very small with a great big heart & personality. This little girl loves getting brushed, getting massages and getting treats from visitors. She also loves to race around the big field with her sisters and her mini horse friends. If Cricket knows you’re here for a visit there’s a good chance you will hear her before you see her. We drove to Pennsylvania in March of 2018 to get Cricket and her sister, Pippa, at just 6 months old. This little girl is probably Clare’s favorite but since we aren’t supposed to have favorites she probably won’t admit it.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Pippa is a half-sister to Cricket and they have been together since birth so they are very bonded. Pippa is an extreme wooly miniature donkey. Extreme woolies have long silky coats and are fairly rare. Pippa is not fond of being brushed but she tolerates it because she knows it makes her look and feel pretty. Pippa likes to pretend to be shy but as soon as her sisters start getting attention or treats here comes the wooly girl wanting her share.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Gladys is a standard size donkey, so she is much larger than the other donkeys and most everyone else at Sweet Memories Farm. This girl came to us in January of 2024 when a dear friend asked if we would give her and her sheep friend a retirement home. Gladys was the livestock guardian on our friend’s sheep farm for many years, now she enjoys just hanging around and getting treats and attention wherever she can. She is the most laid back and loving girl, making her a favorite of many of the visitors to the farm.</image:caption>
